Dale William Emeott “Bill”
Dale William Emeott (Bill) of Saginaw, age 94, died unexpectedly on February 9, 2026 near his beloved family in Grand Blanc, Michigan, waking up pleasantly and surprisingly with the Lord. He was an infant of the Great Depression, born on February 17, 1931, to parents Francis and Inez (Champlin) Emeott in Saginaw, seventh of nine in a raucous and fun-loving family. A native and resident of Thomas Township (Shields) his entire life, with his demise he is last of an unforgettable clan where the coffee pot was always on.
After dropping out of high school in 1947, he went on to work for the old Saginaw Steering Gear, Eaton Manufacturing, and Ellis Trucking, attended by a trip to the Korean War, marriage, and two sons along the way. He became permanently enjoined to his young bride Edwina Katherine Suhan (Kay) on September 15, 1950 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Saginaw and was devoted to her until she predeceased him in 2012.
Upon retirement, he became a contractor and founded D & E Mobile Home Repair, later partnering with dear nephew Mark Dwenger to complete fair and honest projects throughout mid-Michigan. Later, most mornings included a story-telling session with assorted characters of the McDonalds coffee brigade in Shields where he defended his UM allegiance amid an MSU crowd.
His volunteer activities included Shields Mens Club, Cubmaster to baby-boomer boys of the 1960’s, a founding member and coach of the Shields Little League, and long-time usher at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He loved to drive……be it farm tractors, Army tanks, 18-wheelers, or highly-regarded John Deere lawn equipment. A favorite fall pastime was rooting for anything UM football with an eye to the weather as the ever-informed local forecaster.
Bill was a loving father who never missed a game, never missed a meeting, and never gave up on anybody or anything. He had a keen social consciousness, was approachable by all, and respected by many for his kindness and generosity. He loved his four grandsons, rejoiced in their successes, and grieved in their failures.
A special heart-felt thanks goes out to the unwavering neighbor attendants of his old age, Julie, Gail, Don, and Jill, along hard-working Laurie of Visiting Angels.
Surviving are his son and favorite daughter-in-law Danial and Irene (Litvinskas) Emeott. With his surviving family are grandsons Jason (Amisha) Emeott, Lucas Emeott, Brian (Claudine) Emeott, and Douglas Emeott along with great-grandchildren Jane Emeott, Edward Emeott, Vasara Emeott, and Neleis Emeott.

Catherine “Katy” Nye
Loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, a woman of great faith, died peacefully at home, Friday, February 6, 2026, concluding a long life of service to family, church, community and personal fulfillment. She has at last rejoined her beloved husband, Al, who died in 2019. Born April 12, 1927, in Lowell, Michigan, the youngest child of the late William and Mary (Moon) Miller. She was “raised by the mill pond’ where her father milled Pearl Flour until the family took up farming in Elwell, Michigan. She walked to grade school and to Sunday Mass, drove a team of horses during harvest season and planted potato spuds in the spring. She moved to town and cared for a family to pay for her high school education. In 1945 she entered training at St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw as a member of the U.S. Army Corps of Nurse Cadets. “It was such a joy: my own space, learning, making friends and taking care of patients”, graduating in 1948. Fatefully, however, Katy and two of her nursing school friends were hitchhiking from Saginaw to the farm one free Sunday afternoon when new World War II veteran, Al Nye, was taking a drive and picked them up.
Her nursing career was much cherished but very short. Married in 1948, a 72-year union followed, along with 10 offspring; JoAnn (Ralph) Rumsey, Margaret Nye (Vince Withington), David (Melinda) Nye, Gerry (Bob )Sobek, Judy (Donald) Mattox, Barbara Nye (John Bourbonnais), Diane Nye (Mike Rayden), Paul (Linda) Nye, Jim Nye (Mary Kuhn) ,Matt Nye (Jann Wenner); 27 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren. Katy and Al agreed that raising a healthy and educated family of independent thinkers and contributing citizens was their proudest accomplishment and greatest satisfaction. They became a practiced and mutually supportive parental team, settling differences privately, balancing each other’s temperaments and providing stable, confident leadership to the family. Their teamwork paid off the house mortgage in 10 years and provided a college education for all their children. Al persuaded Katy’s doubts away and travel turned out to be the family’s unexpected joy. Cross country tent camping and motor home trips became legendary, eventually to include Katy’s siblings, and leading Nyes to continue world travel to this day. As the family grew and Katy found more space in her days, she revealed a creative streak seen earlier only in making clothes, gardening and baking birthday cakes. She began painting and then created glorious quilts in her last many decades. Each of the 10 offspring has a 50th wedding anniversary memorial quilt and grandchildren were gifted with a personalized quilt as they went off to college.
Katy was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Nye; a grandson, Christopher Nye; and ten siblings, Della (John) Addington, Hazel Miller, Bill (Evelyn) Miller, Florence (Louis) Pung, Marion (Newman) Shaw, Harold (Lucille) Miller, Theresa (Richard) Simon, Walter (Frances) Miller, Esther (Chuck) Edwards and Gladys (Ed) Hanses.
Katy was a woman of great faith and thanked God every day for her blessings.
Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd., Saginaw, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Peter Gaspeny will officiate with burial in Mt. July 2025

Carsten A. Gosen
After a long and fulfilling life, Carsten A. Gosen (Cart) passed away on July 29, 2025, at the grand age of 102. Cart was born on May 28, 1923, in Kochville Township, MI to the late Frederick Gosen, Sr. and Lena (Cammin) Gosen.
During the Great Depression his family moved to Spaulding Township where they bought virgin soil in the Little Prairie. This was the beginning of many happy memories for Cart. His father taught him the skills he would need to become a successful farmer and at home he took joy in listening to the church radio with his mom or hearing his grandmother, Sophia Gosen, tell him and his brother, Buck, bedtime stories.
In 1943, when Cart was 19 years old, he enlisted in the Army as part of the 6834th Reararmament Regiment as a tank engine mechanic and proudly served his country in North Africa and Marseille, France during World War II. He earned the EAME Ribbon with 3 Bronze stars; a Good Conduct Medal; and a Victory Medal. While serving in France he would sell his cigarette rations to French soldiers he worked with and send home the profits to his mom so he could one day build his own home. In 1945, after VE Day, Cart and his best buddy, Bernie Novak, got leave to celebrate. Together they went to Paris, where they popped a bottle of champagne and toasted the Allied victory on the Eiffel Tower. Cart brought that champagne cork home, because it was one of his most treasured memories from the war.
After his return from the war, he met Ruth Schramke on a double date. Although they weren’t each other’s date, sparks flew between the two of them and they quickly fell in love and were married on October 26, 1946, in Saginaw, MI. With the help of Ruth’s father, Clarence Schramke, they built a home in Spaulding Township. There they started their family and farm which abundantly grew to six children and 500 acres of land, including 280 acres that is now part of the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge. Cart was the last remaining Charter Member of the Spaulding Township Fire Department.
In the 1970’s Cart and Ruth moved their farm operation to James Township and eventually bought the “Hart Farm” in 1980, where he grew corn, soybeans, and for a time, sugar beets. Cart and Ruth were heavily involved in the farming community, with Cart serving on both the Michigan Soybean Association Board and the Michigan Sugar Growers’ Board, and both were named Farm Managers of the Year in 1983 by Michigan State University. With dedication and determination Cart took his 8th grade education and turned it into one of the most well-known reputable farms in Saginaw County.
While farming was the cornerstone of their life, Cart and Ruth loved to bowl and play cards with friends in their free time. You could also catch them traveling as a family with their Winnebago or car packed full of kids and grandkids. Their marriage was full of 74 years worth of everlasting memories together before Ruth predeceased Cart in 2021. Since then, not a day has gone by where Cart has not said how much he missed his “Ruthie.”
One of his proudest recent accomplishments was driving his 1961 John Deere 2010 tractor across the Mackinac Bridge during the Antique Tractor Crossing in 2018, 2021, 2022, and 2024 – when he became the oldest person ever to do so. He shared the moment with many family members by his side, cheering him on.
Cart will be remembered by all as a colorful storyteller, always welcoming friends and family into his home so he could share stories about the memories he cherished most. One of the questions he got asked the most was what was his secret for such a long life? His answer was, “Work hard and have a shot of Crown Royal every day!”
Cart leaves a long and lasting legacy with his 6 children: Joseph (Theresa) Gosen of Saginaw; Shirley (Dan) Dabakey of Byron Center; Carsten D. Gosen of Saginaw; James (Carolyn) Gosen of Saginaw; Mary (Steve) DeMaet of Zeeland; and Carol (Kevin) Zedaker of Hemlock; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren (with 2 more on the way); brother-in-law, Kenneth Schramke, of Saginaw; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Cart was also preceded in death by one sister and eight brothers: Norman Gosen; Ruth (Louis) Zeilinger; Ralph (Anna) Gosen; Fredrick “Fritz” (Helen) Gosen; Raymond (Grace) Gosen; Russell Gosen; Harvey (Pauline) Gosen; and Calvin “Buck” (Vivian) Gosen.
Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 4, 2025, at Holy Spirit Parish, 1035 N. River Road. Rev. Fr. Peter J. Gaspeny will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the W.L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Ricardo V. Romero, Sr.
At sunrise on July 23, 2025, the soul of Ricardo V. Romero, Sr., continued on to thrive in the heavenly realm after 87 years in this world. The cause of his death was, well, let’s just say it was his time, which he accepted with grace and serenity.
He was born in Saginaw, MI on December 2, 1937 to the late Jack and Dolores (Verdusco) Romero in a home on Fitzhugh St. that was razed to facilitate I-675, which he was okay with as the demo occurred while no one was in the house at the time. He is survived by his sister, Theresa Mikusek, Millington, MI. His sisters Raquel Romero and Anita Ochoa and his brother Roberto Romero went to the Promised Land ahead of him.
He was a graduate of Arthur Hill Trade School, class of 1955, and then attended Bay City Junior (now Delta) College, graduating 30 years later (he took his time). He then enlisted to become one of the few, the proud, a United States Marine, serving as a Wire Chief at multiple bases in the Pacific theater.
After honorable completion of service, he returned to Michigan to work as a barber in Hamtramck. While in the Detroit area, he met the love of his life, the former Irene Villanueva, who decided to date him because he could dance well. In May 1962, Ricardo and Irene committed to dancing together for the next 63 years, the last year resulting in an Apostolic Blessing from Pope Francis. This blessed dance also yielded their children, Ricardo (Sarah) Romero II, Monroe, MI; Daniel (Shirley) Romero, Saginaw; Raquel Romero-Meacham, Saginaw; and Diana (Gary) Davis, Canton, MI. He leaves cherished memories to 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren with one more on the way. He treasured each one of his descendants.
In order to fund the voracious appetites of these descendants and Catholic high school tuitions for his children, he worked as a pipefitter at Grey Iron Foundry for 35 years, retiring in 1999. To his astonishment, he enjoyed over 25 years of retirement.
Having a deep faith in God, he supported numerous charities throughout his time in Saginaw, lending to his reputation as a respected, all-around great guy with a big heart. He was valued member of the former Sts. Peter & Paul Parish and, later, the Holy Spirit Parish choirs. He was also an avid gardener, having completed the MSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Program, devoting numerous hours of gardening expertise to public areas in Saginaw County. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for several decades, created stained glass art that was displayed at the former Sts. Peter & Paul Church, made sparkling wine from scratch (until several bottles blew open), and golfed with teams on several courses in the Saginaw area. He enjoyed lending his skills to Habitat for Humanity on numerous projects in the Saginaw area. An avid traveler, he visited all 50 of the United States and several countries with his wife and various family members. He is also remembered for his infectious dry humor, which spread into the genetics of his descendants. His family gatherings were hilarious.
Respecting his wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at the Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, MI 48602, including a vigil service at 6:00 p.m.
The funeral Mass will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd, Saginaw, MI 48609 at11:00 a.m. on August 1, 2025 with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m.
Graveside service will occur at 1:00 p.m. on August 4, 2025 at the Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd, Holly, MI 48442.
In lieu of flowers (the gardens at his home are filled with them) please be kind to others and share humor with others. Both make life better.

John James Gustara
John (Jim) James Gustara, age 98, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born March 23, 1927, to the late Joseph and Katarina (Zaumenski) Gustara of Hemlock, Michigan.
Jim was bigger than life in all he did and never did anything halfway. He was a cash crop and dairy farmer in Fremont township for many years…an occupation that he had a passion for. The land was his life and he passed that passion on to all who met him. He farmed 100 acres initially and later farmed his brother’s farm. He was fond of waking his children early during the summer to go work in the fields, as his biggest concern was fields full of weeds. He was a great provider for his family, later in life working both the farm and at the Dow Corning, Midland and later the Hemlock plant.
But it was never all work for Jim. Enjoying life was also his passion. On Sundays in the summer, he would rise early, milk the cows, load the whole family in his snazzy Mercury and head to Crystal Lake with the other farmers in the area and their families where they would spend delightful hours over wonderful food, laughter and swimming. On one day in August in the late 60’s he took the family on vacation to Torch Lake and the rest is history. Years of delightful extended family vacations, barbeques, frisbee playing, water skiing, and jarts filled his days in his beloved cottage. His biggest love was cooking on those weekends. The only thing to be considered was if the meal would be big…or huge. He loved cooking for any and all and provided meals for so many that could not cook for themselves right up until his death. He loved music, singing, and dancing…particularly polkas. A delight for all to see and hear.
In 1948 Jim married his loving wife Helen (Bonnell) and they together raised four daughters who as he would say…have gone on to make him proud. Helen was his loving partner until she passed way in 2012 after 64 years of marriage. During her final years he lovingly and unselfishly cared for her until her death. But God blessed Jim shortly thereafter with a second angel to share his life with, Barb Bell. Together they spent 12 years celebrating life. Travel, long drives to “see the crops”, polkas, cooking, planting flowers and vegetables together and simply enjoying each other. Jim became grandpa to Barb’s many grandchildren. He was a World War II veteran, something he was very proud of as he loved his country. His fondest piece of clothing was his WWII vet hat. He was so fond of asking those that thanked him for his service …” how old do you think I am”? Most were always amazed as he was a vibrant, younger than life man.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Helen; sisters Mary (Kreager), Anna (Toma) and his brother (Joseph); brothers in-law Leonard Kreager and Andy Toma; and his beloved son-in-law Tom Hoss. He is survived by his daughters Christine (Richard) Beebe, Marlene (Bruce) Hulteen, Betty Hoss and Julie Gustara; eight grandchildren and their spouses; and six great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N River Rd, Saginaw, MI 48609, where a Funeral Liturgy will follow at 11:30 a.m. Rev. Fr. Peter Gaspeny will officiate the service. Private entombment will take place at the Roselawn Memorial Mausoleum. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or American Legion #439.

Josephine Patricia McCliggott
Josephine joined her loved ones in heaven after a long and full life on June 18, 2025 with her daughter by her side. She died at Covenant Hospital at the age of 101 years old, after several days of being surrounded by family.
She was born January 5, 1924 in Ithaca, Mi to Anthony and Mary Chomas, one of ten children to Polish immigrants. Josephine married Francis McCliggott on November 23, 1946 and they were married for 61 years until his death. Together they had three daughters, twins Janet and Patricia, and two years later Bev. The family moved to a farm in Pinconning, Mi in 1954 where Josephine would live until she was 98 years old. Life as farmers was often challenging and difficult and Josephine always did her best to stretch the family funds. She loved gardening, farming, flowers and birds. In the last chapters of her life she enjoyed bird watching and filled her porch with feeders, and the family made sure to place feed outside her window at the nursing home. Constance Rehmann
Constance “Connie” Rehmann – devoted wife, loving mother, and inspirational granny – passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 17, 2025, in Vancouver, Washington. She lived life to the fullest, bringing joy, imagination, and music to everyone she met.
She met the love of her life, Jack, in 1948 at St. Andrew High School and married him in 1952. Together they raised their sons in Saginaw before moving to Freeland, where Connie had found 80 acres on which she built their dream home. She loved walking their woods, tending her gardens, and gathering family for celebrations that would culminate in fire-fly hunts and songs around her piano.
Born in 1932 to Bill and Helen Bader in Carrollton Township, Connie delighted in walking the few blocks to St. Josaphat’s school and church where her life-long volunteering commitment began. Her service touched innumerable lives. She was active in church ministries, hosted families from Laos and Japan, and regularly visited residents at nursing homes. Whilst raising five boys, she returned to school, earned a degree from SVSU and used it to teach Native American history, launch a Saginaw “Swing Around Tour” business, and volunteer as a music teacher at St. Thomas – as she would say, “just to name a few.”
Many knew Connie as an extraordinary singer and pianist. She started playing at age seven and challenged herself with increasingly technical and expressive pieces. She reveled both in playing at home on her grand piano and at concerts, churches, and parties where people gathered around in song. She passed this talent along to her boys (who fondly remember watching her play organ barefoot at Mass). An accomplished soprano, she sang with the Germania Choir, Saginaw Choral Society, and a quartet of friends at both local and international events. Oh, how she loved adventure! She traveled the world with Jack and their kids and families, from Indonesia to Egypt to Costa Rica and everywhere between – finding tchotchkes and saving local cheeses and chocolates wrapped in napkins in her handbag.
Connie’s creative spirit demanded expression. She became a Master Gardener and used her green thumb to paint living canvases of color, scent, and texture – backdrops for the many events she hosted. An accomplished seamstress, she sewed clothing, quilts, home decor and more, stitching legacy into every costume and “quiet time” book made for her grandchildren. She held her Polish heritage close, weaving it into the family fabric and baking it into pierogies that were tradition, memory, and celebration in one. Her imagination was boundless, and she filled her home with childhood toys, fairy houses, and endless stories and songs made up on the spot.
A writer at heart, Connie penned parish newsletters, published a short history, and recorded family lore. She wrote to celebrate the beauty of nature, spirituality, and her love for Jack. She mused on paper scraps and type-written pages: countless poems, imaginings, reflections on life, pen-pal letters, and story ideas.
Connie’s creative dynamism, infectious laugh, and fierce devotion will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack (d. 2022) and is survived by Christopher and Rolawn of Paradise, CA; Susan (Greyerbiehl) Rehmann, wife of Stephen (d. 2016) of Traverse City, MI; James and Jennifer of Bainbridge Island, WA; David and Susan of Camas, WA; and Daniel and Mary of Portland, OR. Her love of learning lives on in 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, who continue to spread her joie de vivre.
A Funeral Liturgy will take place on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. from Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd. Saginaw, Rev, Fr. Peter Gaspeny will officiate the service. Entombment to follow in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may visit at the church where the family will be present on Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church of Saginaw or the Saginaw Community Foundation.

Mary Lou Gloudemans
Beloved mother, Nana, sister, aunt and friend peacefully slipped from this life into heaven Thursday morning, February 6, 2025. Age 85 years. The daughter of the late Steven Loviska and Mary (nee Jacobs), Mary Lou was born October 27, 1939 in Saginaw, Michigan. Mary Lou was 100 percent Slovak and grew up in the rich traditions of her heritage. Her first role in life was loving daughter, soon followed by adored big sister to Larry, Bill and Anne.
Mary Lou graduated as valedictorian from St. Joseph in Saginaw. Her first marriage was blessed with Steve Tenney of Saginaw, Barb (Bill) Luongo of Flint, John (Mandi) Tenney of St. Charles and Julie Petrick of Flint. She met her honey and the love of her life, Lee Gloudemans in 1966 when one of her jobs was bartending at Pee Wee’s Lounge. They married on June 1, 1968 and added Laura (Mark) Cassar of Rochester Hills and Eric (Tracie) Gloudemans of Grosse Pointe Farms to the bunch. They settled in Shields, Michigan, converting a large portion of their yard into a vegetable garden, holding hands for sunset Happy Hours on the back patio, raising their kids and eventually watching their grandchildren grow.
If you knew Mary Lou, you knew love. She loved freely, deeply and unconditionally. So many people called her “Mom” because that is how she loved, like a warm hug. Not everyone has a mom like Mary Lou, but everyone wishes they did. She had a wicked sense of humor and a mischievous grin when she’d make you groan at one of her terrible puns. Her positive energy was contagious. Her strength, inspirational. She had a great love for music—playing it, singing it and watching it live, especially if it was one of her three son’s gigs. She was incredibly supportive of all her children’s endeavors. She made their passions her passion. Mom was always our biggest fan.
A woman of many talents that those she loved benefited from, Mary Lou was an awarded painter, organic gardener (before anyone knew what that even meant), canner, kolache baker, seamstress, and creator of all things magical. If you asked for it, she would figure it out and make it for you. No challenge was too big. Our challenge now is to go on without her.
In addition to her children, Mary Lou is survived by 14 grandchildren, Kara, Derek, Will, Mary, Laury, Ben, David, Tim, Jacob, Dani, Dominic, Christian, Steven and Charles; sister Anne Bates of Bay City, brother Bill (Blanche) Loviska of Port St. Lucie, sisters-in-law Kathy Loviska of Saginaw and Jackie Sickel of Green Bay, WI and many great, great-great and great-great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, including three special niece/daughters Sarah Bates of Saginaw, Lisa Bates of Chicago and Laura Bates of Chicago. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her beloved husband, parents, brother Larry Loviska and son Timothy Tenney. Mary Lou’s family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice and Bellbrook Memory Care for their loving service.
