Pro Life Ministry at Holy Spirit Parish

Our Pro Life Ministry works to uphold the sacredness and dignity of human life from the moment of conception until natural death. Guided by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life Activities, these ministries address a broad spectrum of life issues through prayer, education, pastoral care, and public policy advocacy.

Catholic teaching utilizes a consistent ethic of life, recognizing that the right to life is the foundation for all other human rights. Ministries actively focus on:

The Beginning of Life: Opposing abortion, human embryo destruction, and artificial cloning while promoting adoption and foster care.

The End of Life: Opposing euthanasia and assisted suicide while advocating for quality palliative care and hospice support.

Vulnerable Populations: Supporting the disabled, the elderly, victims of human trafficking, and families facing severe financial hardship.

Capital Punishment: Educating communities on the modern Catholic stance opposing the death penalty.

Holy Spirit engages with national and diocesan initiatives throughout the year.

Key Annual Events and Initiatives

Respect Life Month (October): Celebrated annually across the U.S., kicking off with Respect Life Sunday on the first Sunday of October.

Walking with Moms in Need: A parish-based initiative to connect pregnant and parenting women in crisis with local resources and support networks.

40 Days for Life: Participating in peaceful, international campaigns of prayer, fasting, and community outreach outside local medical clinics.

Project Rachel Ministry: Offering post-abortion healing, reconciliation, and pastoral counseling to women and men affected by abortion.
