Funeral Luncheon Ministry – Care for the Grieving

The Funeral Luncheon Ministry at Holy Spirit continues the tradition of caring for families grieving the loss of a loved one. By providing a meal after the funeral service, ministers offer a supportive space for community, remembrance, and healing. 

This ministry directly reflects the Spiritual Works of Mercy by:

  • Comforting the afflicted through a welcoming environment and shared meal.
  • Praying for the living and the dead as a communal faith body.

Parishioners can support this vital ministry in several ways:

  • Food Preparation: Donate side dishes, salads, or desserts for the luncheon.
  • Event Setup: Arrange tables, chairs, and linens before the family arrives.
  • Hospitality Service: Serve food, replenish beverages, and comfort guests during the meal.
  • Clean-Up Crew: Clear tables, wash dishes, and restore the hall after the event

Soup Suppers – Nurturing Body and Soul

Community Soup Suppers provide a meaningful way for parishioners to bond during the Lenten season. These gatherings blend physical nourishment with spiritual growth. 

  • Shared Meal: Fellowship over simple bowls of soup, salads and bread.
  • Connection: Families, singles, and seniors eating together.
  • Open Dialogue: Table conversations about faith, family and life.
  • Worship:  Prayer and spiritual formation following dinner in the church. 
  • Deepens Community: Builds closer relationships amongparishioners.
  • Enhances Lenten Discipline: Fosters a focus on simplicity, reflection, and almsgiving.
  • Welcomes Newcomers: Offers a casual, low-pressure environment for visitors.
